I have been having extreme crafting withdrawal symptons recently, the reasons for which I shall explain below but yesterday I was desperate for a little bit of easy sewing to help switch my somewhat overloaded brain off for a while.
So I made one of these:
It's just a simple lined, linen pouch. Plain linen with some of the gorgeous Bohemian fabric by Anna Maria Horner for the lining and some simple coloured stitching.
I raided my long neglected bead stash to add some interest to the zipper pull and for a spot of extra colour. I actually like the plain simplicity of this, so this one is for me - for a change!
If you would like a tutorial on how to make an unlined box pouch, similar to mine, then check out this fab one over at threebears. These make great little gifts and are really quick and easy to make. Another fab use for fairly small pieces of fabric from your stash too.
Things are incredibily busy with London Mummy at the moment as I am hard at work building the website. I have actually already got someone lined up to build me an all singing, all dancing site in the New Year but really wanted something in place by Christmas. As I will be supplying all the photos and content etc, anyway, I decided I should try and get something up and running before then, even if just temporarily as my regular customers keep asking me when I will be online and it's actually becoming somewhat embarrassing!
Up until now, I have kind of resisted. Mainly because I wanted the site to be perfect and I just haven't had the finances to spare and am adamant that I don't want any outside investment in this baby of mine. Me stubborn, most definitely!
So, being a bit of an "all or nothing" kind of girl who likes a challenge, I decided to go down the oscommerce route. At the moment my days, plus a fair few nights, have been spent learning as much as I can about stylesheets and code, re-shooting and re-sizing my product photos, writing copy and not a great deal else.
Livvy is currently on half term and on Saturday a couple of friends and I dropped our girls off in Portsmouth for a week's adventure holiday on the Isle of Wight - yes yet another PGL one! Hopefully by the time I collect her this Saturday, I will have managed to get the majority of it done.
I'm currently fighting off a cold and resisting all temptation to go out and socialize - yes I know my work/life balance is completely out of whack and I should be taking full advantage of a child free week to catch up with my already neglected friends, but I just know that if I don't finish it now, then there is every chance it simply won't get done and I really need to do this, for me, otherwise the perfectionist inside me will persuade me to wait, yet again.
One of the toughest things for me is simply accepting that sometimes you just cannot do everything by yourself and there is never an absolute right time for some things ........
I'll be back as soon as I can, I promise.
