Unfinished Business

Not quite sure just where the time is going at the moment. Olivia's birthday was very quiet, just a couple of friends over for tea and some last minute improvised chocolate muffins due to oven breaking! Am convinced that we are jinxed in the electrical department as everything seems to be blowing up or breaking down at the moment!

Usually Livvy's birthday falls over half term week so this year we were rather thrown in terms of party dates etc. Had originally hoped to organize a scuba diving party at our local dive centre but were unable to secure a date anywhere near to her birthday so that will have to be done next year. Thank goodness Livvy is so amiable.

Seem to be making very little headway at the moment on some of my WIP's. I keep starting new projects without finishing others - not quite sure why that is but do know that I am feeling very restless generally so perhaps that has something to do with it.

I have managed to finish some soft fabric cubes.

I used some of my scraps of the lovely Sandberg fabrics which I know my friend loves and stuffed them with some wool stuffing. These are so simple to make. Ideally I would have liked to add a little bell inside but didn't have any and given my current tendency for not finishing things at the moment thought it best to just get them done!

I have put these together with one of my Sandberg House fabric cushions, a little applique babygro, an Anne Claire Petit flower rattle and one of the little elephants.

Still looks a little bare to me so will probably add a couple more things, perhaps another babygro or two and one of my Caroline Gardner baby albums.

Happy Birthday my darling Livvy!

I do wish sometimes I could press the pause button for a while as time is passing far too quickly.

This is one of my favourite cards from one of my suppliers, TC Designs. I just wish they would produce it without the number 5 on as I would love to give one of these to Livvy on her birthday next week but as she is about to go into double digits I don't think that would go down too well.

Am sooo behind in planning her birthday as I have once again managed to take on too much, lots of various WIP and ideas for London Mummy but not much getting finished, so will have to keep it really simple. I'm planning on creating 10 little cards to hang on our twigs - just simple white painted twigs which are on permanent display, we try and have a different theme each month although I must confess that they have been bare since taking down our little Christmas display.

Inside each card will be an activity we can do together with a few wild ones thrown in where Livvy can choose something herself and I am not allowed to veto it, however embarrassing it may be for me!

I admit to being guilty sometimes of not spending as much one on one time with her as she would like and while she never complains I would very much like to try and change that. Not always easy when you are trying to raise a child and grow a business singlehandedly but time just seems to fly by so quickly and in a few years she will reach the stage when she will be off with her friends and I just know I shall regret the times together we missed out on.

I love the idea of each of the cards being a different origami animal; owl, bird etc but suspect I am not being very realistic about my time constraints here so will just have to keep it really simple.

Now I need to start thinking about those activities ..............
